Thanks for the book suggestions ArtistOz.:) Matt, up until now I have used nothing but myself as a study, but there are some body parts that are hard to get a good idea of when you're using yourself. Theres only so much a mirror can show. And only so many body parts that males and females have in common lol And even those body parts we do have in common, there are still differences between the sexes. I'm hoping to find a book that can help with those between parts that we cannot decifer quite so easily with just ourselves as models. Then again, I could always start prodding and poking my partner when I need ideas on the male body LOL He'd be thrilled with that idea:p.

I have really enjoyed 'anatomy for the artist' by jeno barcsay. A great reference for skeletonal system and muscles and dealing with various postional stands. I got it on sale at barnes and noble for 20-25 dollars it is a hard back book. If you are looking for inexpensive books try half.com it is part of the e-bay system. That sells books, textbooks that are used usually so are new. But there can be a big difference in prices. Of course i'm not certain about internaltional shipping but you can always look into that.

I've been taking an artistic anatomy the past couple of years. My instructor has recommended that one of the best ways to learn the anatomy is to start by drawing the bones and then laying the muscles on top. Pay close attention to the insertion points of the muscles.

That's where they connect to the bone. Often it's somewhat different than what we think we see. Dnevnik trenirovok v excel I have a number of anatomy books that are geared towards artists. My favorites of them would be: Artistic Anatomy by Dr.

Paul Richer and translated by Robert Beverly Hale:) Human Anatomy for Artists Illustrations by Andras Szunyoghy Text by Dr. Gyorgy Feher This book is a pretty massive 500 pages. I also strongly recommend looking at the site Scary Terry mentioned for Loomis' book Figure Drawing for All It's Worth. The proportions and foreshortening instruction is invaluable.:clap. Since Harmony wanted to compile a list from here, I actually took everybody's comments plus added one more book. In this manner all you do is copy and paste the list or just print it for your reference. Webcanvas recommended anatomy books Robert Beverly Hale's 'Master Class in Figure Drawing' Watson-Guptil Publications Anatomy Drawing School a Hungarian Book in English sold through QBD.

What makes it interesting is it has anatomy on 11 different animals as well as humans. 'Bridgman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life' was a breakthrough book for me. As far as Im concerened the best book for your buck is by Stephen Peck. His book is titled 'Altas of Human Anatomy for the artist' and it runs about $12 USD. Andrew Loomis books. 'Anatomy for Artists' by goldfinger. Ciarrai just bought it too.
